SHAF DEFORMATION:

Modelling of shaft deflection is very difficult. Using vast amounts of
calibration data in a minescale NL model, an excellent fit between modelled and observed surface displacements was achieved.

In the example, the model results are plotted with the measured movements. An excellent match between the modeled and measured results can be seen.

The result demonstrates that to properly understand shaft damage, both movements and damage need to be correctly simulated. Only BAE NL models are able to properly simulate minescale problems to correctly replicate global deformation.

Finite Difference applications and currently available Mining Industry specific discrete element codes are too inefficient, often use low order or compromised ’averaging’ elements and have been unable to match BAEs success replicating real-world deformation.
