Super Precision Open Pit Slope Modelling:
In this example, a large open pit was modeled in super-fine detail, probably exceeding any other modeling ever undertaken for pit slope stability analysis.
Faults able to discretely shear and dilate, geological domains and the complete pit excavation history were simulated with amazing replication of pit behavior, including wall movements and observed failures.
Click on the button below to view an animation showing detail fine enough to allow a drive down the pit ramp, with plastic strain visible on the road ahead. (You may need to click to ‘allow blocked content’ at the top of Internet Explorer—it will then count to 100 before starting).
BAE NL analysis is the worlds best practice in pit slope stability modelling. You can download a detailed Powerpoint presentation on numerical modelling of large open pit slopes (46Mb—right click and select ‘save target as’). |
